Program Overview:
The Welding Symbol Program is a professional AutoCAD extension designed to create and manage welding symbols in accordance with AWS A2.4 standard specifications. Developed specifically for AutoCAD 2025 LT, this application streamlines the process of placing accurate and standardized welding symbols on technical drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards while significantly reducing the time required for symbol creation and documentation.
The program provides a comprehensive dialog interface that allows users to define all necessary welding parameters, including weld types, contours, surface finishes, and special designations. The integrated preview feature enables real-time visualization of the symbol before placement, ensuring accuracy and reducing the need for revisions. All symbols are created using AutoCAD’s multileader functionality, which maintains proper scaling and ensures consistent appearance across different drawing scales.
Key Features and Capabilities:
The application supports both standard and intermittent welding configurations, with separate parameter controls for arrow side and other side specifications. Users can select from seven different weld types, including fillet, V-groove, bevel, U-groove, J-groove, square, and plug welds. The program automatically generates the appropriate symbol geometry based on the selected parameters and applies the correct contour and finish symbols as specified in the AWS A2.4 standard.
Special designations such as field weld flags, all-around weld circles, full penetration indicators, and NDT requirements can be easily added through toggle controls in the dialog interface. The program also includes support for WPS number references and up to three additional note fields, providing comprehensive documentation capabilities for complex welding specifications. A built-in library of commonly used WPS numbers is provided for quick reference, covering various welding processes including GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and SAW applications.
