Historic Radiotelegraphic Station Restoration Plans and Elevations

Historical Building Documentation & Restoration Project
This architectural drawing set documents the Radiotelegraphic Station at the Fortaleza de Santa Cruz de Anhatomirim (Santa Cruz Fortress of Anhatomirim) in Brazil. The drawings capture the building’s original form (pre-1981 renovation) with a comprehensive set of documentation including:
Floor Plans: The main floor plan shows a traditional layout with six sala (rooms), two bathrooms, circulation areas, and two covered porches (alpendres). The building features traditional hydraulic tile flooring (ladrilho hidráulico) and clay tile flooring (piso tijoleira) in different rooms.
Elevations & Sections: The four cardinal directional elevations (North, South, East, West) detail the external appearance with multiple original fenestration elements requiring restoration. Cross-sections AB and CD document the Paulista-style tongue-and-groove wooden ceiling (forro tipo paulista macho e fêmea).
Restoration Elements:
– Reopening of ventilation gateways (gateiras)
– Reconstruction of original windows as per details 9, 10, and 12
– Restoration of doors according to specified details
– Reconstruction of the original parapet (platibanda)
The building features timber construction elements including wooden pillars (8 × 13.5 cm) and traditional masonry techniques. The restoration documentation was prepared by Architect Roberto Tonera in February 2001 for the Federal University of Santa Catarina as part of the Anhatomirim Multimedia Fortresses project.
