Para la construcción de la iglesia, se anexaron dos casas contiguas y un pasaje peatonal que conformaba uno de los lados del triángulo adyacente. El cuerpo de la iglesia queda suspendido del nivel de la calle y de las viviendas de un piso que la rodean, definiendo un nuevo horizonte para el barrio en el que se emplaza. El rito de acceso tiene un carácter ascensional a través de las rampas que conducen al piso superior llevándonos desde el suelo vacío y penumbroso de la calle, hasta el espacio blanco y luminoso de la iglesia. La luz cenital traspasa el edificio, iluminando el primer tramo de la rampa e invitando a subir. En la llegada del segundo tramo se encuentra una imagen de San Alberto Hurtado que recibe al que llega y nos conduce hacia la entrada. N. M. N. M.
